“Greater availability of timely support” needed for children facing exclusion

A major new study by the University of Exeter has found that children who are excluded from school are more likely to be suffering from mental health problems, and that exclusions may also lead to “long-term psychiatric problems and psychological distress”. The study recommended making support available for children at the earliest opportunity, also arguing that this would benefit teaching staff.
