Counselling

Counselling is an approach which provides a confidential space for children to share thoughts and feelings without judgement.

The counsellor will use a mixture of talking therapy techniques alongside creative approaches such as art and play to explore and communicate issues, feelings and emotions.

A programme of counselling can help young people to deal challenges in their lives and can help to address specific problems such as anxiety, low self-esteem, relationships, bereavement and anger. The counsellor will help explore the problem and strategies for coping, making a positive difference to their life.

We recommend that a minimum of 20 sessions, which are child centred.

The therapist uses regular feedback processes to communicate with parents, while ensuring confidentially for the young person. The sessions can take place at Family Compass HQ, at school or in a community location.
