Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes the types of personal data we may collect about you when you interact with our website. It also explains how we’ll store and handle that data, and keep it safe.

If you have any additional questions after reading this policy, please contact us at hello@familycompass.co.uk.

The legal basis

The law on data protection sets out a number of different reasons for which a business may collect and process your personal data, including:

Consent

We collect and process your data with your consent when you sign up to our emails. This happens when you subscribe to receive email newsletters and offers.
We only require your name and email address in order to send you news by email. This is processed by the email service provider Mailchimp, by WordPress, the system our website uses, and 123-reg who host the website. We will never pass your details to any other business or organisation. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email I send you.

Contractual obligations

We may need your personal data to comply with my contractual obligations.
For example, if you order an item from us to be posted, we’ll collect your address details to deliver your purchase, but will not retain these records.
If you pay using Paypal your financial information is stored securely and not seen by any Family Compass employees.

Legal compliance

If the law requires us to, we may need to collect and process your data.
For example, we are permitted to pass on details of people involved in fraud or other criminal activity affecting our business to law enforcement .

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. The cookie helps to analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us to analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website. We use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system. Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, enabling us to monitor which pages you use and which you do not.
A cookie does not give access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer.

Your rights

You have the right to request:
Access to the personal data we hold about you, free of charge.
The correction of your personal data when incorrect, out of date or incomplete.
That your data be deleted from our records when there are no further contractual or legal obligations.
That we stop using your personal data for direct marketing
That we stop any consent-based processing of your personal data after you withdraw that consent.

Family Compass are committed to using every effort to comply with current data laws.
