Handling the stress of a new term

September can be full of excitement and possibilities – a new class, new school, or a transition to college, university or work. It can also be stressful and intimidating, as young people negotiate the changes they are faced with.

If you know someone who seems to be having a tough time, keep asking if they’re ok – the tenth time might be the time they actually tell you, instead of saying ‘I’m fine’. Maybe offer to do something together that involves a drive or a walk- it’s often easier to talk if you’re not face to face.
