I have been working with children, young people, and families for over 20 years and qualified as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist in 2021.
When we face mental health difficulties, it can be hard to put these experiences into words, so Dance Movement Psychotherapy uses movement to express our feelings. It also provides a space to build on our relationship with others and support our body’s response to anxiety and stress. No dance experience is needed for Dance Movement Psychotherapy sessions as the movement we use is for expressing our ‘inner world’ and does not have to look or be a certain way.
I have worked in the NHS, the education system, the charity sector, and a post adoption support agency. My role prior to joining Family Compass involved supporting young people living in residential homes.
I really love working therapeutically with young people and seeing their self-esteem and confidence grow. I am enthusiastic about the creative arts therapies and the benefits they bring to children and families struggling with their mental health and to society as a whole.
