Funded community support

Helping children find calmness, confidence and connection.

Our Inhale/Exhale project is a funded community mental health programme that gives children and young people the chance to feel supported, understood and heard. Thanks to grants, donations and community fundraising, we can offer a limited number of free places each year to children who need some extra help navigating life’s challenges.

Why it matters

Imagine a classroom of 30 children. Chances are, 6 of them are struggling with anxiety, sadness or trauma, unable to focus, withdrawn, or perhaps acting out because they don’t know how to express their feelings. Too often, children like this don’t get help when they need it most – yet early support can make all the difference.

That’s where Inhale/Exhale comes in. Over 6-12 sessions, children are offered a safe space to explore their feelings, learn how their brains respond to stress, and discover ways to cope when life feels overwhelming. Through fun, creative, and engaging activities, they begin to notice their strengths, celebrate their achievements, and build resilience for the future.

So far, we’ve helped over 300 children and young people weather life’s storms and find their rainbows, giving them the tools to live happier, more confident lives. 93 % of children tell us that they have made positive progress after support.

What we offer

Depending on the child or or young person’s needs, and on availability, they may be offered either:

  • 1:1 Therapeutic mentoring with a skilled and experienced mental health practitioner
  • 1:1 Counselling (this may also be offered to parents/carers where appropriate)
  • Group sessions

Accessibility and donations

The Inhale/Exhale programme is completely free. Families who are able to make a donation help us support more children, but every child receives the same high-quality care regardless of donation.

Eligibility

Inhale/Exhale is available to children and young people who are:

  • Aged 7-25 years old
  • Not already receiving professional mental health support.

Sometimes parents/carers may be offered counselling to help them to support their child.

Spaces are limited, and unfortunately we get many more requests for help than we can accommodate. This means we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer you or your child a space.

Get in touch

If you’d like to learn more, make a referral, or support us by making a donation to Inhale/Exhale, please contact us.

All children deserve to be valued, to feel heard and be seen.
Inhale/Exhale is here to help them find their rainbows — one session, one step, one breath at a time.

This programme should be available for all young people!
