Emma Nobes, Team Manager and Safeguarding Lead

I trained as a nurse for people with learning disabilities in 1987.  After working as a community nurse with adults I realised my heart’s desire was to work and make a difference for children.

I completed a BA in Social Work and began a long and varied career working in the field of Social Work.  I started out as a Children’s Services Social Worker, worked for a number of years in the voluntary sector, before joining Devon county Council as an Independent Reviewing Officer.  Latterly I worked within the world of fostering, managing and leading Fostering Devon.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the world of DDP a number of years ago, completing DDP level 1.  I immediately felt a strong connection with the therapeutic aspect and PACE recognising how the model supports children and young people who have experienced trauma in their young lives.

I am a registered Social Worker with Social Work England.  I am passionate about making a difference to children and young people’s lives by enabling practitioners to understand the often complex issues and needs and provide support and intervention needed.

My experiences across the years have given me insight into the importance of relationships and how these are the foundations to our emotional, mental and physical wellbeing and can help us have a sense of belonging and purpose.
